Our mission
The Evergreen Movement exists to change the rules and raise the generation that will live under them.
We build federal policy that makes a just, sustainable future possible: housing, health, democracy, environment, and the revenue to fund it. And we build the curriculum that helps young people understand, defend, and improve it.
Policy changes what’s possible. Education changes who can sustain it. We do both because they are the same project: building a future, and building the people who will keep it.
What we focus on
Environment
Clean air and water, an end to plastic and forever-chemical pollution, protected lands, and a fair transition for the communities hit hardest.
Housing
Permanent supportive housing, universal vouchers, and protection from eviction, so no one has to choose between rent and recovery.
Democracy
Public financing of elections, real-time disclosure, and tough anti-corruption rules that put voters ahead of donors.
Health
Mental health care and addiction treatment on demand, treated as health care rather than crime.
Our story
Evergreen began with a simple frustration: the problems hurting people most (housing, health, a warming planet, a political system that answers to donors) were being treated as separate fights, and none of them were being won. Mark Pincus, who had seen firsthand what happens when people in crisis can’t get housing or care, started asking a different question: what if we wrote the solution as one connected plan?
That question became The Seven, a package of seven federal bills that work together. Along the way, it became clear that good policy isn’t enough on its own. It needs a public that understands it and a generation ready to carry it forward. So Evergreen built a second track: a middle school environmental curriculum that teaches young people to understand, defend and improve the world they’re inheriting.
Today Evergreen is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) with a team spread across the United States, Africa and Asia, and we’re just getting started.
